I'm Syd Martin, owner of Crete Concepts. I grew up on my father's concrete and pool job sites right here in Southwest Florida. I bring 60+ years of family knowledge and 20+ years of my own hands-on experience to every job.

Before

Growing up on the job

I was introduced to concrete by my father, who ran a concrete and pool construction business here in Southwest Florida. I grew up on his job sites. As a little kid I was helping and watching, learning the trade from start to finish. By about 12 years old I was working regularly after school and on weekends, and at 16 I went full time.

One of my first memories is helping pour a new build in northwest Cape Coral when there wasn't another house as far as you could see.

What my father taught me, and how I still run every job

Learning every part of the trade

I learned stamped concrete first. We built natural lagoon-style pools with stamped finishes and hand-carved, stained faux rock features. Turning raw materials into a beautiful landscape is still my favorite part of this work.

I worked my way up from helper to running jobs, handling pre-site inspections and managing projects. Working on every phase of a project, in-ground pools included, taught me to spot an issue before it becomes one. Later I worked with a few other local companies and added a lot to what I'd learned growing up.

Crete Concepts

I started Crete Concepts to work for homeowners, my neighbors, instead of chasing new construction. I love helping people in my community bring their ideas to life, and being someone they can trust with their home.

The name comes from the range of concrete work I do: everyday flatwork, decorative and stamped concrete, resurfacing, hand-carved water features and more.

My goal is simple: quality concrete work, clear communication, honest expectations and fair prices, with an easy process from your first call to the finished project and straight answers the whole way.

The third generation

That's my son with me in the excavator. I'm raising the third generation to one day take what I've built and run with it.
