More parking without replacing the whole driveway
A driveway extension adds room for another car, a boat or a trailer, or just makes a narrow drive easier to use. We tie the new concrete into your existing driveway so it looks planned, not patched on.
We'll look at the edge of your current driveway, the slope of the yard and where water goes, so the extension drains right and lines up clean.
Every extension includes
- Sod removal and site prep
- Clean tie-in to your existing driveway
- Forming for proper slope and drainage
- Broom finish and control joints
- Full cleanup when we're done
Popular upgrades
- 5- or 6-inch thickness
- Wire mesh reinforcement
- Compacted stone base
- Removal of existing concrete or pavers
- Permit processing when required
What affects the price of a driveway extension
- Width and length. A strip along one side costs less than a full parking pad. Total square footage is the starting point for the range.
- The tie-in. Connecting to your existing drive takes a clean saw cut or edge prep. If the old edge is broken, we may need to cut back to solid concrete.
- What's there now. Grass is the simplest start. Old pavers, gravel or a cracked slab add removal and haul-off.
- Heavy parking. Boats, trailers and RVs put more weight on an extension than a car. Extra thickness and wire mesh are worth it for that kind of load.
Driveway extensions in Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Lee County
Plenty of homes in Cape Coral and North Fort Myers were built with a single-car width driveway, and boat owners on the canals run out of room fast. An extension along the side of the drive is a common fix. Before we pour, we look at where the roof and yard water goes now, because covering grass with concrete changes the drainage on your lot during summer storms.
Corner lots, utility boxes and sprinkler heads all affect how far an extension can go. In Lehigh Acres and parts of Fort Myers, some HOAs limit driveway width or want approval for the change, so ask before we set a date. Cape Coral and Lee County treat widening near the street differently. We'll tell you if yours needs a permit.
How a driveway extension job runs
- Mark the layout. We measure and mark the new area with you so the size and lines are settled first.
- Clear and cut. Sod or old material comes out and the edge of your current drive is cut clean.
- Form to match. Forms are set to meet your existing driveway height and keep the slope consistent.
- Pour and blend. The extension is poured, broomed to match your drive and jointed in line with the old pattern.
Common questions
Will the new concrete match my old driveway?
New concrete is always a little lighter at first and blends in as it weathers. A clean, straight tie-in line keeps it looking intentional.
Can you widen both sides of the driveway?
Yes. Enter the total extension size in the calculator, or send a photo and we'll measure it for you.
What if there's already concrete or pavers there?
Select existing concrete in the calculator so removal is included, then send a photo so we can confirm.
