Fort Myers concrete work, run by the owner

Crete Concepts is based in Cape Coral, a short drive over the river from Fort Myers, and we take on residential concrete work throughout the city. Syd Martin owns the company and runs every job himself. He is a second-generation Southwest Florida concrete contractor who grew up on his father's job sites, with more than 20 years of hands-on work.

Fort Myers homes usually need one of a few things: replacing a driveway that has been cracking for decades, adding parking beside an existing slab, or a usable patio off the back slider. Either way, the person you talked to on the phone is accountable for the forming, the pour, the finish and the cleanup.

What we build in Fort Myers

  • Concrete driveways: full tear-out and replacement for older driveways that years of traffic and tree roots have broken up.
  • Driveway extensions: extra width for a second car, a boat or a trailer, tied into your existing driveway so the edges line up.
  • Concrete patios: backyard slabs for seating, grilling or a future screen room, pitched so water runs away from the house.
  • Pool decks: new and replacement decks for established pools where the old deck has cracked or pulled away from the coping.
  • Slabs, pads and walkways: pads for sheds, generators and AC units, and walkways from the driveway to the front door.
  • Stamped concrete: patterns and color for entries and patios where a plain finish does not suit the house.
  • Concrete resurfacing: Spray-Crete coatings that refresh concrete that is sound underneath but stained or worn on top.
  • Removal and replacement: breaking out, hauling off and re-pouring concrete that is too far gone to save.

Local conditions we plan for

Older driveways and walkways. A lot of Fort Myers concrete was poured decades ago, often thin and with little base underneath. When we replace it, we break it out completely, check the ground below and reset the forms instead of covering up a problem.

Mature trees. Established areas like the streets off McGregor Boulevard have big oaks and other trees growing close to driveways and sidewalks. Roots lift and crack slabs over time. We look at where the roots run, talk through extra thickness or wire mesh, and lay out control joints so movement is more likely to show at a joint. We won't cut a major root without talking to you first.

HOA communities. Many newer planned communities require approval before you change a driveway, add a patio or pick a color. We'll give you the size, finish and color details your association asks for so you can submit them before we schedule.

City or county rules. Some addresses with a Fort Myers mailing address are inside the city and some are in unincorporated Lee County, and the rules can differ. We'll tell you whether your project needs a permit before you commit to anything.

Beyond the city itself, we work in South Fort Myers, Iona, Cape Coral and the rest of Lee County.

Common questions

How do I get a price for a Fort Myers project?

Start with the price calculator for a range on your size and options. Syd then looks at the site and confirms the price. For small jobs under 200 sq ft, send a few photos through the contact form and we will price them from the photos.

Can you replace only part of my driveway?

Yes. We can saw-cut and replace the damaged sections and leave the good concrete in place. New concrete won't match the old color exactly, so we'll plan the cut lines to look intentional.

There's a big tree next to my driveway. Can you still pour?

Usually, yes. We look at the roots and the grade, and plan thickness, reinforcement and joint layout around the tree. If a root has to be dealt with, we discuss it with you before anything is cut.

Do I need a permit?

It depends on the work and whether your home is in the city of Fort Myers or unincorporated Lee County. We'll tell you whether your project needs a permit when we look at it.
