Island work from just across the water

Crete Concepts is based in Cape Coral, straight down Pine Island Road from Matlacha. Syd Martin owns the company, prices every job himself and is on site for every pour. He grew up on his father's concrete and pool job sites in Cape Coral and has spent more than 20 years doing the work with his own hands.

Many island homes are still being repaired or rebuilt after recent hurricanes, including Ian in 2022. A lot of our work here is replacing driveways, patios and walkways that were broken up, undermined or buried in debris, and helping homeowners finish the outdoor part of a rebuild.

What we build on the island

  • Removal and replacement: breaking out storm-damaged or undermined concrete, hauling it off the island and pouring new.
  • Concrete driveways: replacement driveways for homes that have been repaired, rebuilt or raised.
  • Concrete patios: outdoor space facing the canal or the bay, pitched so rain drains where it should.
  • Pool decks: decks around waterfront pools, with finish choices that make sense in full sun and salt air.
  • Driveway extensions: room to park a boat trailer or a second vehicle on a tight island lot.
  • Slabs, pads and walkways: generator and AC pads, shed slabs and walkways from the driveway to the dock.
  • Stamped concrete: decorative patios and entries, sealed for the coastal environment.
  • Concrete resurfacing: Spray-Crete over solid concrete that is weathered or stained but not broken.

Local conditions we plan for

Getting on and off the island. Pine Island Road through Matlacha is the only road on and off the island, and concrete has a limited working window once it's mixed. We plan pour times, truck arrivals and crew timing around the drive, so the concrete arrives ready to place, not sitting in traffic.

Salt air. Waterfront concrete deals with salt, sun and moisture all year. For exposed patios and pool decks, we'll talk through 4,000 PSI concrete and, for stamped or colored finishes, a sealer and how often to reapply it. Rinsing salt spray off your concrete now and then helps too.

Canal and waterfront lots. Many lots have narrow side yards, docks and seawalls. We keep heavy loads back from the seawall, plan how the concrete gets to the backyard, and slope new slabs so water drains away from the house without washing soil out along the wall.

Rebuilding after storms. If your home is being repaired, raised or rebuilt, we time the concrete so other trades aren't driving over it. Flood-zone and county rules can affect what gets built, so we'll tell you whether your project needs a permit.

We work across the island, from Matlacha and Pine Island Center to Bokeelia and St. James City, and back toward Cape Coral.

Common questions

Which parts of the island do you cover?

All of it, including Matlacha, Pine Island Center, Bokeelia and St. James City. Travel time is part of how we schedule, so let us know your location when you reach out.

Can you replace concrete damaged in the hurricanes?

Yes. We break out the damaged concrete, check the ground underneath for washouts, rebuild the base where needed and pour new. If your home is still being repaired, we'll time the work so it isn't damaged by other trades.

What finish holds up best near salt water?

A broom finish is the simplest to maintain. Stamped and colored concrete can do well here too, but it needs a sealer that gets reapplied over time. We'll talk through 4,000 PSI concrete for exposed areas.

How do I get a price?

Use the price calculator for a range, then Syd confirms it on site. For jobs under 200 sq ft, send a few photos through the contact form and we will price them from the photos.
